This is Rupi the mountain dog. Or maybe Rupee the mountain dog. I should find out how she's spelled. The red bandana is so she doesn't disappear against the snow. And also because it looks so darned cute.
This is Huxley, the other mountain dog, and his bright orange ball. Unfortunately, being bright orange isn't much help when his ball is a few inches under the snow...
Unfortunately the other pictures from the ski up to the cabin all ended up out of focus or something. Maybe we're just not as photogenic as the dogs :) This is the early rising crowd (Charlie, Jane, and Joleen in Jane's shadow) on the ridge to the west of the cabin. I hauled a tripod all the way up the mountain, and had one similar picture with all four of us in it, but must not have wound the film on before setting the timer, and so failed utterly to actually take a picture...
This is the cabin, as seen (with a long lens; the slope isn't actually that steep...) from the ridge. I think that's Ione next to the cabin taking pictures of me taking pictures of her. Or vice versa. Or something.
And these are a bunch of pictures of us skiing the ridge. Not much more to say about that. Nice light fluffy snow early in the morning. It got heavier and wetter on the next run.
Climbing back up for a second run after breakfast. Ione and Joleen took the same line we had skied before breakfast while the others went over to explore a line a few hundred yards over. I only got good pictures of Jason on it, but it was a sweet little run.
And then the ski out. This is the moraine left by the Anniversary Glacier; the cabin is up a bit and into the trees on the right.
Ione was first time on telemarks, first time skiing deep snow, and first time skiing with a pack. Here she demonstrates the classic and easy-to-learn toboggan stance, widely used for dealing with such conditions.
